PART 02 — CLASSIC

CLASSIC KITCHENS.

Framed fronts, a stone benchtop and metal you can hold. A classic kitchen from Kitchen Atelier is made to measure for your room, built in our own workshop in wood, stone and metal, and backed by a 10-year warranty.

PART 02.1 — FRONTS

01

FRAMED FRONTS.

You recognise a classic kitchen door by door. Each front is built as a frame around a recessed centre panel, or given a profiled edge that catches the light along its length. That depth is what sets classic apart from modern, where the front stays flat and quiet.

We make every front in our own workshop, so the frame width, panel recess and edge profile are drawn for your kitchen, not picked from a fixed range. Timber can stay warm and visible under a clear finish, or be painted so the profile carries the look.

02 BENCHTOPS

Stone gives a classic kitchen its weight. A benchtop with visible veining settles the detailed fronts beneath it, and a slightly thicker edge or softened profile echoes the moulding on the doors. Pale stone keeps a painted run light, while a darker slab anchors warm timber.

03 HANDLES

In a classic kitchen, hardware is meant to be seen. Round knobs on doors, cup pulls on drawers and bar handles on tall units give the fronts rhythm. Brass warms up and softens with use, while black steel draws a crisp line against paint. Pick one metal and carry it through taps and hinges, and the room reads as one piece.

PART 02.4 — PROPORTION

MADE TO THE ROOM.

Classic joinery lives or dies by proportion. A cornice that stops short of the ceiling, or a run of doors in uneven widths, is noticed straight away. Because our kitchens are made to measure, carcasses are sized to your walls. Door widths can be balanced across a run, panels can finish neatly beside a window or chimney breast, and tall units can rise to the ceiling line.

The same care applies to the plan. A classic kitchen works as a straight run, an L-shape, a U-shape or around an island. See how each changes the room on Kitchen Layouts & Quote Request.

PAIRING NOTES.

WARM TIMBER FRONT + PALE VEINED STONE + BRASS KNOBS

The grain shows through the frame, the light stone keeps a long run from feeling heavy, and the brass picks up the timber’s warmth.

PAINTED FRONT + DARK STONE + BLACK-STEEL CUP PULLS

A calm painted colour lets the profile do the work. A dark benchtop draws a firm horizontal line, and the black steel repeats it at every drawer.

TIMBER ISLAND + PAINTED PERIMETER + ONE METAL THROUGHOUT

Setting the island apart in timber gives the room a centrepiece. Keeping the same metal on both lets the two finishes read as one kitchen.

BOOK THE MEASUREMENT VISIT.

A classic kitchen starts with accurate numbers. The measurement visit is free: a designer records the room, looks at how the light falls, and talks through fronts, benchtops and hardware with you, ready for the 3D design.
