In many St Kilda flats and smaller homes, the laundry sits right next to the kitchen. Sometimes it’s a cupboard off the kitchen itself. When one room is being updated, the other often comes up too. Ivan Bodnar treats a laundry renovation the same way as a kitchen renovation. He looks at what is already there, checks what the new surfaces will sit on and gives you a written quotation after the assessment.

A laundry is small, but it carries water, heat, detergent and a lot of daily use. These are the points Ivan goes through at the on-site assessment.
Where baskets, detergents, ironing gear and cleaning equipment will go, and whether the existing cupboards can be reused or need replacing.
Benches, splashbacks, wall finishes and flooring that can handle water and cleaning. Suitable materials are chosen for how the room is actually used.
Moisture, the condition of the substrate and any underlying damage are checked before new finishes are recommended. Skipping this step can lead to avoidable rework. See Surface Preparation & Suitable Materials.
Where the water supply, drainage and power points currently run, and whether access to them is practical. Any changes are regulated work for licensed trades.

If both rooms need work, it often makes sense to look at them together. The two rooms may share a wall, a waste line or a stretch of flooring, so the order of work and the preparation can be planned as one scope instead of two.
In a flat, the same building considerations apply as for an apartment kitchen: access for materials, noise, waste removal, existing services and any owners corporation conditions or limits on common property. These are covered on Apartment Kitchens & Owners Corporation Considerations.
Keeping existing connections where they are usually keeps the scope simpler. Moving them is plumbing work for a licensed plumber, and what’s practical depends on what the assessment finds.
Laundries can hide old leaks or moisture damage. An inspection cannot reveal every concealed issue, so the quotation reflects what can be assessed. Read What May Be Behind the Cabinets.
That depends on the property and the scope. Permits, registration, insurance and licensed trade requirements vary, and contract and approvals wording is confirmed for each project.
The main focus here is Kitchen Renovation in St Kilda. Laundry work sits alongside it. To start, Ivan offers a free on-site assessment and a free written quotation prepared afterwards. You can call between 9:00 and 18:00, seven days, or use the form on the contact page. Ivan will review your enquiry and talk through practical options.
